A GLIMPSE INTO MEDIC CORPS'
CALIFORNIA
The devastating wildfires that swept through Southern California in January 2025 left a trail of destruction.
Fatalities: At least 30 people were killed.
Evacuations: Over 200,000 people were forced to evacuate at the peak of the fires.
Structures Lost: More than 18,000 homes and structures were destroyed or damaged.
As the fires destroyed critical infrastructure, response teams moved into remote areas with no service and a dangerous communication gap emerged.
MEDIC Corps provided and managed Starlink for command centers, Public Information Officers (PIO) vehicles, fire rigs, and media interview trailers.
This vital connectivity empowered PIOs and fire officials to more efficiently communicate with the public, disseminating real-time, life-saving information about the direction of the fires and crucial evacuation notices. By ensuring a reliable flow of information, MEDIC Corps helped keep communities safer and the overall emergency response more effective.
In the wake of Hurricane Helene's devastation in Western North Carolina in September 2024, MEDIC Corps provided critical aid and continues to support long-term recovery. The historic storm caused over 107 fatalities, displaced tens of thousands, and resulted in more than $59.6 billion in damages, destroying infrastructure and homes with unprecedented rainfall and flooding.
In partnership with the Love and Life Foundation, MEDIC Corps' immediate response included:
Restoring Communications: Deployed Starlink satellite internet to all area fire departments, re-establishing vital communication for emergency services.
Evacuating Residents: Assisted in evacuating people from flooded and high-risk areas.
Delivering Supplies: Provided a steady stream of essential supplies like food, water, and medical provisions to impacted communities.
Ensuring Clean Water: Implemented water filtration systems to guarantee access to safe drinking water.
MEDIC Corps remains dedicated to the region's recovery by actively supporting the reconstruction of homes and helping communities rebuild.
The February 2023 earthquakes in Turkey and Syria killed over 59,000 people, displaced millions, and destroyed cities and infrastructure. MEDIC Corps launched a robust aid effort to support the hardest-hit communities.
Our Response:
Partnerships for Aid Delivery: We collaborated with local municipalities and churches in Turkey and Syria to overcome logistical hurdles, importing numerous containers of essential supplies from various countries.
Nutritional Support: We partnered with food factories to produce and distribute large quantities of protein-rich, non-perishable food to survivors facing displacement and hunger.
Our work supported the urgent needs of earthquake victims as part of the global humanitarian response.
Since the war in Ukraine escalated, remote and frontline villages have faced dire humanitarian challenges, with vulnerable groups like the elderly and children hit hardest. MEDIC Corps, staying neutral, delivers vital aid and builds resilience in these hard-to-reach areas.
Our Efforts:
Aid Delivery: We set up a logistics network to bring food and essentials to isolated communities cut off by conflict.
Winter Relief: We supported local production of heating and cooking stoves to keep families warm during power outages, reducing risks from landmine-contaminated areas.
Emergency Medical Care: Our teams provide triage and stabilization during attacks and train new Ukrainian medics to strengthen local emergency response.
Mobile Clinics: We operate mobile healthcare units, delivering medical consultations and medications to remote conflict zones.
Aid Coordination: Partnering with larger NGOs, we handle "last-mile" delivery to ensure aid reaches the most dangerous frontline areas.
Our work provides a lifeline to Ukraine’s most vulnerable, supporting their survival and recovery.
In August 2021, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake devastated Haiti’s Tiburon Peninsula, particularly Les Cayes and nearby rural areas, killing over 2,200, injuring 12,000, and destroying hospitals and clinics. MEDIC Corps deployed to the disaster zone to deliver urgent medical and logistical aid to isolated communities.
Our Efforts:
Mountain Rescues: We airlifted critically injured patients from remote mountain areas to medical facilities via dozens of helicopter evacuations.Triage and Medical
Aid: Our teams set up triage points to prioritize the severely injured and supplied depleted clinics with essential medical resources.
Infrastructure Assessments: We evaluated damaged healthcare facilities to identify critical needs and guide resource allocation.
Aid Coordination: We partnered with NGOs to streamline aid delivery, directing supplies and personnel to the hardest-hit areas for maximum impact.
Our response provided vital support to Haiti’s most vulnerable, strengthening the broader humanitarian effort.
HURRICANE DORIAN
In September 2019, Hurricane Dorian, a Category 5 storm, ravaged the Bahamas’ Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama, killing at least 74 people, displacing thousands, and destroying infrastructure. Our team launched a logistics-focused response to deliver critical aid to isolated areas.
Our Efforts:
Air Evacuations and Aid: We used fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters to evacuate injured and stranded people and deliver food, water, and essentials to cut-off communities.
Airport Operations: We reopened and managed airport services, coordinating flights to enable a surge of international aid.
Fuel and Power Support: We distributed fuel to power emergency vehicles, aircraft, and medical facilities, while supplying generators and technicians to restore critical equipment.
Our work provided a vital lifeline, supporting both our efforts and the broader humanitarian response to one of the Bahamas’ worst storms.
